Interview with Mary, Jane, and Lucy

We are going into a quiet space and sitting down with the three boomer chicks from the Losing the Boomer Blues trilogy. The stories were written by me, Mary Lanza. I’m sure you will enjoy the first interview I conduct with them today.

MK: Mary, let’s start with you. When did you meet Jane and Lucy?

Mary: We met on the steps of George Washington High School in San Francisco, California on September 14th, 1966. It was an overcast day. I remember it being really cold, and my hair was super frizzy. I was terribly embarrassed, but my boyfriend, George said I looked fine. He always built me up.

Jane: We hit it off right away.

Lucy: Yep, we were soul sisters.

MK: What makes you say that, Lucy?

Lucy: Our guys were in a band. We were stuck like glue to them. We knew we had something more in common than just the latest fashions. We loved rock and roll music.

Mary: And not just any kind of music. It had to be the Beatles’ music.

Jane: That’s for sure. Bob, George, and Fred were in a Beatles cover band. We loved hanging with them after school in Bob’s garage. We did our homework while they jammed.

Mary: Lucy helped Bob’s mom make their outfits. She made my senior ball dress too. She’s an artist and a darn good one at that.

Lucy: Yep, I’m still showing my work in the City.

MK: So Jane, what was your main talent?

Jane: Photography. I retired a few years ago but I still carry a camera around with me and love doing weddings.

MK: And you Mary?

Mary: I write poems but I’m still cutting and styling Jane and Lucy’s hair. I don’t think they’ll ever accept the fact that I’m retired.

To be continued.

Come back soon for more of my interview with the three boomer chicks.

Let Me Take You Back

To the Summer of Love…

Mary, Jane, and Lucy take you back to the Summer of Love.

Introducing you to three boomer chicks from the sixties, Mary, Jane, and Lucy.

I will conduct an interview with these three aging children from the sixties. Three best friends from high school who thought the days of struggle were over but found out differently when Donald Trump took office in 2017. Would you like to know more? Well, I will ask Mary, Jane, or Lucy some questions. Losing the boomer blues wasn’t easy. Aging was hard enough but then along came Trump. The boat was suddenly filling up with millions of boomers feeling bluesy right along with them. If you read my books you’ll understand what my characters are fired up about at this moment in time. They feel all this political craziness is due to Trump and the GOP claiming he won the 2020 election. Voter fraud? Lies? The chicks think Trump wants to destroy our democracy and become a dictator. They will explain how afraid they are but they are hoping beyond hope that White Supremacists and Religious Nationalists don’t sell their freedom down the river.

Look up to the sky to find the answers that you seek. There will be a reply no worries. A solution to your problems will come in time. Roll up your sleeves and give pushing ahead a try. We don’t succeed without making our dreams take flight.

We Never Know Where We May Go

We never know who may come along

And take us to places we have only gone to in a song

But that person may appear one day

And take us far away

If only in our dreams.

That special someone very few find

Within the short moments of their lives.

You may say I’ve waited too long

While someone else may say, “I’m at the crossroads

And I feel comfortable being all alone.”

But let me tell you this

There’s nothing on earth more beautiful than bliss.

Something you won’t want to miss

And it comes to everyone when this time ends.

There will be many hands reaching out for yours

And you’ll finally find a place to call home.

You’ll know the pleasure of God’s tender kiss

As you find the treasure of your soul.

You may have had a lifetime of love

Or struggled and become cold

But whether you made God happy

Or you made God sad, He had a plan.

God will send you somewhere beautiful

Or He’ll decide you must start again.

Live life as if you have already found heaven

And love all of God’s children.

Do this and God will never send you back to earth again.
